hi! welcome!
i live in florida too! welcome to the south. :-) quite a change from canada (i'm originally from wisconsin, so its a shock to have warm weather so much!)
my dr. just put me on robinul about 2 or 3 weeks ago. it's helping me some (i am IBS-A [alternating]). better than the Bentyl i had before that. they have a constipating effect, so they might be a good choice for you. they make me a little sleepy for the first hour or two after taking them (you take them every 8 hours), but i'm a small person so drugs affect me a lot, and i try to avoid them, so they might be okay for you. it's a pretty new drug, so that's probably why people haven't heard much about it yet.
i don't know about Pamine. i think that maybe was the other one my doctor told me about? he gave me a choice between two. he said they were pretty much the same thing, but Robinul was slightly less constipating and you take it 3 times a day instead of just twice. (but i don't know for sure if the other was Pamine) i chose the robinul because since i'm IBS-A i switch between D and C and didn't want to make the C worse. still finding out if it's doing the trick... we'll see.
basically, i think you should ask your doctor a little more about each kind, side effects, etc, and at least try one out. you can always switch to find something that works.
good luck!
beth
