HI and welcome to the IBS boards! I wanted to tell you that I've used Heather's diet alone, without the fiber supplements and have not had an attack since July when I first started her program. Each person's case is so different I don't think you should assume you need to supplements especially if they cause you discomfort. I know many people here swear by the peppermint or fennel tea, for example, but it gave me horrible cramps when I tried them. So maybe just try the diet for a while and see what works for you.
