Hi all, I have IBS-C and started taking Natural Calm probably 7 years ago to help. Most of that time, I used the standard dose and that is what I have been doing most recently. I do think it contributes to my need to have several bowel movements per day, none of which are spontaneous (I need to drink hot or cold or sit/stand, etc...to make a BM happen.)
So...I want to get off of it, and see where my body is on its own now. Backtracking...for over a year during 2012 and 2013 I did abuse it as a laxative, but quit that during summer 2013. I still cannot seem to succeed getting off of it totally. My transverse colon feels very 'backed up' and 'twisty', when I get much below the standard 2tsp. dose.
I am underweight and need desperately to get my weight up, but when I feel this way (backed up) it is so tough to eat much...feels like I will back up farther, and historically, this is what has happened. (I then have had to resort to an enema--vicious cycle!) I know Heather recommends ramping up on soluble fiber supplements but none of them seem to sit well with me. I have given acacia good, long tries twice (quite awhile ago) and could not get past extreme gassiness on even the tiniest dose. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know! I am determined the quit using the Natural Calm. (prunes not a great option, I am fructose intolerant). THANKS SO VERY MUCH!!
