If your GI symptoms improve when you take them, that could point to an inflammatory bowel disease like Crohn's or ulcerative colitis.

A colonoscopy probably would have ruled out colitis, but Crohn's can affect anything anywhere along your entire GI tract, mouth to anus. It is almost impossible to view this entire length with the scope tests they have. A capsule endoscopy can sometimes find otherwise hard-to-see inflammation.

Can you see a new GI doc and ask about this? They can do bloodwork to check your body for inflammation and high white blood cell counts.

I'd also ask about celiac - that's not an IBD, but steroids might mask the symptoms if you have that, and make you temporarily feel better.

Either way, if I were you I would not accept an IBS diagnosis until inflammation has been ruled out.

Best,
Heather
