Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

Hi All,

I realise this isn't quite the correct board for this but i wasn't sure where this post should go.

I have been having bowel issues for the last 7 years, they came on suddenly and as yet are undiagnosed. I think i will end up being told it's IBS - D as they can find no real explanation. I find the condition limits my life a lot and is having a huge impact on my ability to work to my best ability.

I've had two colonoscpies and an endoscopy and never found any answers.

However, every single time i get put on steroids for an allergic reaction my bowel issue improves totally and i find myself able to live a normal life. I have told my specialist this who tells me it's a coincidence. I have in the last six months realised this cant be a coincidence, i've had a few courses of pred in that time and every single time i improve after 36 hours and start to get ill again 2 - 3 days after stopping them.

Does anyone know any Non - IBD conditions that would improve on steroids? I have been told i don't have IBD.

I've tried to research what effects steroids have on your body in case it's a knock on effect but at the moment everything is coming up blank.

I really need to try and solve this on my own as my Dr refuses to believe there is a connection but I KNOW there is, even my Mum who is a nurse is in total agreement that the Dr is wrong and there is a link.

Can anyone help? suggest any reading? or know someone who could help?

I have to get to the bottom of this before i loose my job through ill health
