Were the tests done by an MD or where they done by an testing facility that advertises on the web?

There are a very large number of bifido and lactobacillus species. Did they tell which species of lactobacillus and bifido were low? If no, just knowning you are low in bifido and lactobacillus family of bacteria is not particularly useful.

Generally speaking probiotics will not permenantly colonize the colon that is why you have to keep taking them daily.

It is also well known that individuals with IBS have decreased amounts of some colonic bacteria. It is quite possible that stool test may always show low bifido and lactobacilli counts.

Are you taking a clinically tested probiotic such as Align ( Bifido infantis ) or VSL#3 (Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium infantis, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus)?
