Cyndy,
I would say I am about 95% better. In 2005 when I started the IBS diet, I was down to white bread, turkey, chicken, fish, white rice, oatmeal, soy milk, canned peaches, canned pears, apple sauce, bananas, green beans and carrots (raw or cooked). It was gradual over a couple of years, but now I can eat all of that, plus pork (yes, I know this is a red meat and is a trigger for many), salads, even a little dairy now and then, and many other things I was afraid to and unable to eat seven years ago. I still steer clear of beef, coffee, large amounts of dairy, and artificial sugars but otherwise I am good to go. Oh, and I hardly drink soda anymore - maybe half a cup once a month.
I still take a soluble fiber supplement at least once a day.
It took a lot of patience and time on my part, and just as much patience and understanding from my husband and friends. I consider myself very lucky that I have come so far.
Hang in there. I hope things turn around for you.
