burning in stomach

Yesterday, Hubby and I were on our way to go ice fishing and all of a sudden I got this burning in my stomach and half way up like I had swallowed a glob of Vick's Vapor Rub. I've had acid-like feeling in my throat before, but never burning like this. Is this what is considered "heart burn"? I know some of it was just nerves (I always get kind of nervous going ice fishing....not scared....just anxious, and excited, I guess). Anyway.....I was just wondering if this is what they call "heart burn" or something else. I've never had this type of burning before. Although I was better once we got to the lake and our fishing spot, it has been burning today, too.
