Low stomach acid likely won't effect the enteric coating on peppermint pills. The stomach acid pH would have to rise to a level that would likely be quite unhealthy before it effected the coating.

According to Naturopathic doctors Betaine HCL is suppose increase stomach acid something which has not been shown by clinical trials. However, there is currently a trial underway. If this supplement does increase stomach acid therefore decreasing the pH then it is even more unlikely that it would effect the enteric coating on the peppermint pill because this coating protects against low pH.

The belching of peppermint is usually caused by reflux of the peppermint from the small intestine back into the stomach. Do you have GERD? If yes, peppermint is know to exacerbate GERD. If no, then it cannot hurt to take Betaine HCL and enteric coated peppermint at the same time. It is best to take the peppermint on an empty stomach so it can find its way to the colon to reduce spasms when eating. However, there is no reason you cannot experiment with the amount of time it has to be taken before eating
