Hi all,
I've searched around a bit on this, but can't seem to find an answer. I have low stomach acid (yes, dx-ed), so take Betaine HCL with meals. I would like to start taking Heather's peppermint pills again (I stopped b/c I was belching up peppermint all the time, making me suspect the pills weren't reaching my intestines). My IBS seems worse without them, so I'd like to do another trial -- at least two weeks or so -- to see what happens.
I know the instructions are to take peppermint pills on an empty stomach, but if my stomach acid is too low, then what? Even if I take the pill 15 minutes before eating, won't the low stomach acid mean the pill won't make it through? Can I take the peppermint pills and my Betaine HCL at the same time, with the first bite of food?
Many thanks! Amy
