Without making this way too long, I have IBS. Have had it for a long time. For the most part, it has been manageable. However, two weeks ago I was knocked off my rear and straight onto the toilet. LOL I still have a sense of humor though! Anyhow, it is my gastroenterologist's opinion that gastroenteritis has entered my life and getting my gut out of this process may take some time. Anyhow, I'm taking antispasmodics, antidiarrheals and have taken 4 nightly doses of 10 mg of Elavil thus far. I'm doing better, but still having more pain and D than I want.
OK, so my question... what do I feed my husband and I? I have ODed on mashed potatoes, rice, applesauce, bananas, fresh French bread, chicken and oatmeal with an occasional Eggo here and there. I'm also doing a packet of Benefiber in my drink at supper. But, I'm really hungry for other stuff now. I have the problem of having to feed hubby, too. I will not be cooking with soy for right now. Two factors: the cost and the fact that I don't think I can get DH to eat it. I have tried soy milk and rice milk and I could not stand it.
I have ordered Heather's book and hopefully it will get here next week, but I need some ideas for meals now -- everyday items that I can get at my local grocery store. The best store in our town is only a C grade store so you can imagine my options. What about frozen meals or other easy to prepare items that aren't so challenging on the gut? I'm not afraid of cooking, but I do have limited time for food preparation.
Thanks for reading this.
