TMJ worse

This post isn't really IBS related but since so many have TMJ and it is a health issue I thought I would post it here.

I have grade 2 out of 5 TMJ which isn't bad. The problem is my night guard makes it worse not better! The cheap squishy ones from the drug store fall apart in two months and don't stay in well but they don't worsen the AM jaw locking like the dentist ones do.
So I had to get a new dentist one. It was $650 before the little health insurance will pay on it. I have had 5-6 made and 1-2 were comped by my dentist since he felt I shouldn't have to pay for one again. So now I have a new one and it makes my jaw lock at night- even after only 15 minutes in. I told my dentist after the first week and he said try wearing it every other night. I can't go without it becuase I will break my teeth and my mouth and teeth hurt from the grinding, but wearing it locks my jaw- which is unpleasant and scary.
So I need to figure out what to do about this new one. I shouldn't have to buy something that makes me worse. I wish it could be adjusted to not put my jaw in an artificial position causing locking up. I wish I hadn't spent the $650 on it only to have it no better than any before! I'm not sure what to do or what to expect my wonderful dentist to do about it.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
