Advice on diet

What I never understand is this common scenario:
'I am in a lot of pain and C with bloating. I only eat 3 foods because every time I eat something else I get pain.' Here's the problem with that 1. you are already in pain whether you add new foods or not 2. you will not get any better by going for months without improving the diet- especially for C.
Here is another enigma: 'I am so C but afraid to try to add IF because it sounds scary and might make me worse or give me pain.' Again, if you are already in pain and have C why not try to add a food that might help you? Adding IF is not that hard- just have a bit of SF first. Don't be too afraid to add new but safe foods. The fear of what might happen will possibly make you have problems. Don't be afraid! Add IF and other foods the way Heather recommends. If you are already in pain or having issues, what have you got to lose?
Here is another one: 'I am having so much pain and C or D but all I can eat is corn pops, yogurt and fritos'. We actually had someone post once long ago that they were eating just a few foods and couldn't handle anything else. One of the foods was like Chips Ahoy I thknk, and pop, I remember, but they had a special way of drinking it and would do this weird superstitious fast sipping. They felt if they veered from this weird routine they would get sick. Don't let your diet sound like that! Eat only what is safe but don't just live on a few things you think don't give you problems. If you are here most likely you are having problems and so your tiny diet isn't working. Don't be nervous but trust the food info here! Don't give in to superstitious eating.

--------------------
IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
