IMO you have to wean yourself off of coffee and any caffeine (which is actually a drug) carefully and slowly. Either drink some coffee and some caffeinated tea or some half caff coffee to start with. Then switch to caffeinated tea like English breakfast (which is hard on the stomach like coffee but we are talking about weaning here). Then gradually switch the caff tea to rooibos tea which is caffeine free but energy-causing. Then gradually switch to all decaf drinks. Don't drink decaf coffee because it is hard on the stomach too. Once the caffeine addiction is gone make sure you are drinking a lot of herbal tea or water -being dehydrated can make you drowsy.

"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
