Re: Biofeedback       12/17/09 11:25 AM Edit Reply Quote Syl Reged: 03/13/05 Posts: 5499 Loc: SK, CANADA In 2008 there was an excellent review published in Nature - Clinical Practice Gastroenterology & Hepatology titled The role of biofeedback in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders. A variety of feedback mechanism have been tried on IBSers including EMG, thermal and a gut directed computer biofeedback game. The conclusion in the section on IBS was "When multicomponent treatment was compared with an attention-placebo condition (pseudomeditation and EEG alpha suppression biofeedback), it was no more effective than placebo". Something you might consider is gut directed hynotherapy. It has been shown to be quite effective for managing some symptoms but it isn't a cure.
