Julie, are you getting help from a therapist? An eating disorder and IBS are a lot to deal with at once, especially as they are so interrelated. I also struggled with anorexia and then bulimia for years, as well as the IBS. It is a very tricky web to escape, since you can't just follow the usual advice for EDs about learning to eating "normally" again. I really, really, REALLY hope you are getting professional help. It's just too much for one person to deal with one their own. I also hope that you can lose your fear of foods like potatoes. First of all, I eat potatoes/beets/yams/parsnips/squash every day and, to be honest, I am still underweight. Not that underweight should be a goal! In fact I'd really like to gain some since winter is coming and I am getting COLD. But it's hard when eating causes so much discomfort. Hang in there!
