For the person who asked the question about IBS symptoms excacerbated by taking Lipitor...
I took Lipitor for 6 months. It literally tore up my gut and made my musles ache everywhere. Such is a side-effect of most cholesteral reducing drugs for many. My cholesterol level drop was next to 'nil' after taking it for 6 months. During that interval I was absolutely miserable with gut problems and muscle aches and pains throughout my body.
Following an IBS safe diet will naturally drop your cholesterol level and you won't have to suffer from prescription drugs that make you feel worse overall rather than better, and do not drop your cholesteral level meaningfully, simply to satisfy your doctor. We are not about making our doctors happy, we are about making ourselves comfortable and healthier.
I don't think ANY cholesterol reducing prescription today (basically toxic poison) is good for anyone with IBS problems.
Take acacia fiber from this website instead, follow the diet, and just watch the amazing results in reducing your cholesterol, absent expensive prescription drugs. Best of all, you won't suffer all the of the muscle aches and pains, and will be better nourished overall by following the IBS diet.
I often wish seemingly HEALTHY people would learn to eat this way, as they could avoid many health issues later. This would also apply to avoiding a diagnosis of diabetes in later life.
