Mucilages (e.g., psyllium) are soluble fibers that generally speaking are less fermentable by bacteria in the colon than other soluble fibers.

This document might explain slippery elm more clearly. I am not familiar with slippery elm and tea made from it. You may need to experiment by giving her small amounts and see how it goes.
