I've been avoiding the trigger foods as mentioned by Heather for years now. I know if I eat a particular food, I will get sick (no doubt about it!). My question is: since I've been avoiding many trigger foods, I have been sticking with A LOT of white carbs (think white bread, white rice, white bagels, rice krispy treats) causing me to GAIN weight. I know if I stick with these foods, I'll be stable. Obvious problem is, FEW fruits and veggies are finding there way into my diet. My hubby and I have decided we want to start trying for a baby. No way do I want to grow a baby in this unhealthy environment. I've been reading a book about how to improve your fertility and (duh -common sense) the author recommends reducing white flour and processed foods while eating a wide variety of organic fruits and veggies. Dark green leafy veggies are highly recommended. I've never been able to eat any leafy veggies without a reaction. If I eat fiber first, I should be fine. Here's my concern: what (exactly) constitutes fiber besides the white sour dough bread type fiber? How about using a blender or juicer to break down the raw veggies? I've searched white bread and read many posts on how some of you have created such healthy food plans and I want that! I want to see a nutritionist, but so often, they are clueless about IBS special needs. Any advice would be so greatly appreciated
