Another thing I was thinking about is that the increase of gas and bloating after introducing a SFS isn't necessarily bad. The intestines may react to the chance with a little more gas but the fiber is good for them and they will get used to it. Thinking about what is good for them in the long run to reach the goal of stabilization is the thing. I just find it so hard to believe people who firmly attest to not being able to handle a SFS.
After all, when you start to exercise you get sore, but you know it is for the best and will go away. For some starting a SFS they may need to think of it this way. Personally I have been on one for so long I can't remember having any issues with starting.
I seem to be obsessed with examples don't I?

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
