My GI doc prescribed Hyomax (Hyoscyamine)for me, saying it might help with my symptoms. Anyway, she said I could take it twice a day if I wanted, or once a day. I took it once a day for two days.
I didn't have a good experience with it. Heres what happened
On saturday I took a double dose of a vitamin D gel in fish liver oil. I believe that is what caused cramps/quasi D for two days. After that experience, I was fed up, and decided to go on the antispasmodic. After the first day, my stomach felt calmed, but I felt like C was coming on, so I ate more fiber than I usually do (for full detail, I had a pumpkin kashi bar in the morning, that has 3g SF/1 g IF. I just got two new kinds of granola bars, so I had one of each, 2 g SF/2 g IF each) So, I felt like I really had to go to the bathroom last night/this morning. For the first time in about a year, I got bad cramps today before even eating anything. Usually, that leads to inevitable D, but it didn't today. I had a normal BM, but don't feel fully evacuated. Its not a good feeling
Anyway, this has never happened before, so I can be fairly certain in attributing it to the antispasmodic. I have a feeling antispasmodics aren't right for someone with IBS-A. Any thoughts?
