I've tried Zoloft in the past (for something else entirely) and felt like garbage the whole time I was on it. Last year I tried Lexapro for my IBS and it didn't do much for my stomach, though it did help me get through the stress of a move and planning my wedding.
I've been on the Prozac for one week now. And I literally feel like I have a new digestive system. And that's a good thing. I'm going to the bathroom regularly - big, soft, well formed stools. Sometimes more than once a day! With no cramping! As a result my bloating is much better (though not completely gone). And I've been eating beans or lentils every day! I even ate a salad one day! I haven't been daring enough yet to try dairy or potato chips, but maybe soon!
I'm not saying it's the answer for everybody, but it has definitely helped my digestion. It has not helped my insomnia, which is most likely also the result of stress/anxiety, so maybe I need a higher dose. I'm taking 10 mg/day now.
Sharond, thanks for the kind thoughts! Today is my last day of work, so that should help cut down on some of my stress! My plan for next week is to relax and catch up on some much needed sleep, then enjoy the holidays with my family. We'll be packing and moving in early January.
