I was diagnosed with IBS-D about two years ago. I have been following the EFI diet for about 10 months now, take acacia (I'm up to 3 tbs plus 2 tsp per day), peppermint caps and tea when I can, and for the most part my symptoms have been under control. I have my bad days and my good days and I am pretty aware of when my symptoms flare up the reasons why (ate something I really shouldn't have, stress, etc). However, my biggest complaint still is urgency, however now my BM's are much more bulky and looking normal and I am having them on a more regular basis. Is this an issue for anyone else? I can deal with the occasional gas and don't even experience pain all that much, but the urgency is still bothering me. I know that I've read that it takes some people quite a while for their bodies to adjust to the diet and acacia, and my meals are mostly SF.
I have a prescription for Bentyl that I stopped around the time I started the diet because I really wanted to control my symptoms as naturally as possible. I tried Levbid for a while (without supplementing it with the diet) and had no improvements with my symtpoms.
Any insight would be appreciated. I peruse these boards often and I rarely post but now that I am in need of some advice I'd like to know if some of you experience this as well. Thanks!
