I have had IBS since for 30 years. I was also diagnosed with gastritis about 20 years ago, when I was going through a bad bout of stomach pain. At that time not as much was known about IBS, so I think the doctor figured it must be gastritis because all my tests were negative. At one point I was given Donnatol, and realized I had no symptoms when I took it, but I felt too dazed to function. It subsided after about a week or two. In hindsight, I wonder if all my symptoms were related to the IBS (since the Donnatol was an antispasmotic) I learned by myself that coffee, stress, fried food and alcohol caused it to come back, so I avoided those. It got much better. Now with the onset of menopause, I have had some recurring IBS symptoms and this website has been a godsend to give me more ways to keep things under control. Hang in there- it gets better.
