Generally it doesn't matter what oil is used. Most of the time it is canola anyway.
Have you tried talking with your store about getting plan varieties? If you want plain baked lays and ruffles just have them tell the Frito Lay vendor to bring the plain. I work at a grocery store. Usually the Frito Lay vendors come in every other day or more and can bring in anything that will sell. You can find them early Sunday and Monday morning for sure and talk with them directly. They are customer oriented and should work with you. I have noticed they skimp on the baked varieties since they probably don't sell as well. And as you say they don't go on sale very often. You might try a Walmart or Sam's club for them. But even the baked chips are junk food and so you shouldn't eat more than one bag a week and that isnt that expensive.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
