Obviously if your doctor gave you a prescription for antibiotics, it is probably best to continue taking them, or consult your doctor before stopping them. However, taking them sometimes opens a whole can of worms, either in present, or even later in life. Antibiotics kill all bacteria, good and bad in your gut, which allows an overgrowth of yeast to occur, even manifesting health problems years after the antibiotic treatment. I agree that probiotics should be taken during your treatment, and even after you finish. Wait 2 hours after your last treatment for the day though before you take them.
And yes, fungus has been implicated in colitis, diabetes, and even some cancers now. And, since antibiotics are fungal poisons, I guess in a way you should be careful when taking them. Hence, the probiotics (good reliable ones, not the ones sitting on the Wal-mart shelves) would be an important supplement to take. Ask your doctor.
