I don't know if I have a flu or a flare-up of the IBS-D. How can you tell the difference? I've been doing so well lately. I take peppermint capsules and Acacia at breakfast and dinner,I've cut back on sweets, switched to a low-glycemic diet thinking that the high-glycemic foods were stressing my system, and started taking a diuretic for my blood pressure, which I think is slightly constipating (yay for me!)
Today I had my usual cereal with rice milk and bananna, a bit of ground flax seed and some dried fruit (which I eat every morning). The raisins and flax seed aren't on the IBS diet, but I've been able to tolerate them fine. Right after eating I had an attack of D and have been going all day. I tried a little applesauce and a few saltines for lunch but it went through me. I don't feel nauseaus, just wiped out from all of this D.
I had a light period that ended two days ago, so I don't think that's the cause. I've also been under tremendous stress at work (still am),in my relationship and with a death in the family, but I was fine through all of that.
I'm grateful for finally having had a couple of months with no symptoms, but feel like I'm back to square one, only worse. Usually my D only lasts a couple of times in the morning.
I feel like I shouldn't be griping, but I feel most depressed. (I read Toady's post, and that was helpful.)
