So it's not black and white in regards to soluble vs. insoluble fiber...but I still do not understand why Heather's book recommends white bread over whole wheat bread...and other similar recommendations... In your experience on this BB, do people's SF:IF ratio differ based on IBS-C or IBS-D? Yes, people in the US only get about 5-15 grams of dietary fiber per day, when the recommendation markedly higher. The thing is, I do get plenty of fiber. I will try to increase my soluble fiber portion and see what happens. Are there article links available re. soluble fiber and bowel disease? I'd love to read them.
