Yeah, stuff can get pretty expensive!
To save money I try to buy as much food from the regular grocery store or make it from scratch. I don't buy cookies or brownie mixes but make my own instead. It's actually not hard, I just omit a big part of the fat that particular recipe calls for and substitute with applesauce or mashed sweet potato. If I want something sweet from the grocery store I try to stick to simple things such as graham crackers, etc.
And, of course, I read labels like crazy. For example, I found that Nestle chocolate chips had milk in it but the regular cheap supermarket brand didn't.
I still spend lots of money on things like rice milk, "cheese", etc. I found that with every new diet (I've tried GF, corn free, etc) I'm always overwhelmed at first but as I learn to substitute it gets a bit cheaper.
