I wasn't able to click 'Reply' on Sand's sticky post, so here's a separate post.

I thought it was really helpful. It's always nice to hear someone else's POV, even if their situation and experiences aren't exactly the same. Imho, it's the best and broadest way to learn. Aside from my always-present (lack of) money issues, I certainly get a huge amount of help from this site, the members who post here, and some of Heather's books. I'm also learning how to read food labels/ingredients (sorta, I'm still not sure about some of the weirder sounding words). But I know whole eggs, egg yolk, casein, whey, lactose, Monosodium Glutemate, HFCS, and high fat content are like signs to me to slow down and think before I grab or before I eat. So far, I think my worst enemies are dairy/milk derivatives and egg yolk. I'm still trying to figure out how MSG treats me, but I'm trying to eat as little of it as possible (I really don't appreciate it that much anyway) but sometimes when there's a food that I can eat safely, MSG is the only thing in it that looks questionable. Bleh. :P

I'm also on Recipezaar. I use Recipezaar.com and the recipe exchange board and recipe index on Heather's site, as well as her books for recipes or ideas. The Eating for IBS board is also really helpful.

I think I sound really wishy-washy, sometimes. I vacilate a lot between being comfortable and mostly fine with my IBS-dietary needs and being totally peeved and angry about it. Even though the going is slow, frustrating, and tedious, it's also interesting and I must say that I'm in at least 40% better digestive shape than I was 8 years ago.

I'm rambling. But I want you all to know, IBS-Diet Newbies and the IBS-Diet Veterans alike that even when I sound upset or frustrated, you guys and gals really do come through. When I'm confused or have questions, even if you can't answer them, your support means so much.

So thanks, Sand, and everyone else, for the inspiration and the guidance. I may not always get a chance to log on and read/write, but you are ALL always in my thoughts and prayers for happy and healthy tummies.
