pain meds and IBS       08/01/07 01:04 PM Edit Reply Quote melinda413 Reged: 05/09/07 Posts: 71 Loc: Findlay, OH I have cancer and had surgery about a week ago. I was on loratab but when I did not go to the bathroom for 5 days after the surgery they told me to stop taking it and take a laxative. Now I dont know what to do, i am normally constipated, but sometimes IBS_A. I dont need the pain pills all the time but at night i really do. Would taking them just at night still make me constipated? My Dr.'s have said that all pain killers have a side effect of possible constipation. They also suggested I just take constant laxatives while on it. But I have never liked using them and have only done so very rarely in the past.
