As far as the menu, can you call the host/hostess in advance and make sure they have things on the menu that you can eat? If there is absolutely nothing you can eat, I would eat a meal you know is safe prior to going to the function and sip on water or have a glass of wine if you can tolerate it to relax you. Explain to anyone who asks that you had something to attend earlier in the day and are still full. Most of all, try not to worry and enjoy yourself.
