I am an upper elementary teacher of 5th graders. I think that lower elementary would be tough because you can't leave the room for a potty break. I can and have with my classes. I also have 2 other teaching partners who I can call to watch my kids if I need to use the bathroom. They both know my sitution and understand. So does my principal. I remember an attack last year when I was newly pregnant. I had D so bad I was throwing up and my prinicpal was knocking on the door seeing if she could help. She had a wet washcloth, a glass of water and a chair for me to sit on when I got out. Plus she had someone cover my class for the remainder of the day. I know that not all principals or staff is like that. I am really lucky. I do have to say that in teaching you need to do what drives you the most. You can't just settle into a position just because you think it will be easier. Like many people have said if you are doing something you love then there is a good chance your stress will be less and your tummy will behave. Good luck!
