Hi there - I'm so glad you're starting to feel better, and constipation does tend to take longer to resolve than diarrhea, so please hang in there.

Your dose is just fine, though it sounds like you increased pretty rapidly. That can cause gas and bloating for a lot of people, but if you're doing okay with it that's what counts. You can continue to gradually increase - the max dose is 30 grams per day, which is 5 level tablespoons.

For mixing it, add the powder to your cup first, then add the liquid and stir with a fork as you go. Let it sit for a minute or so, then stir again, and that should get rid of any lumps. I also like to add it to moist foods like applesauce or hot cereal, or to cook with it. I find it easier to get higher doses that way.

I can't say I've heard a lot of great things about Zelnorm, thoughs some people do have good results. It seems like for the folks who get good results, that tapers off after several weeks, and they have to stop taking it and then start again, or increase the dose. Celexa has really helped some folks, but again it depends. If you search through the boards you'll find good and bad experiences from both drugs.

Best,
Heather
