lithelady, a couple of things.
First on your question on the ssri and zelnorm, I don't personally know enough about that to tell you.
However, I recommend coming to the next UNC chat with the experts.
Do you know who DR Drossman is, have you ever heard of him?
Our next Evening with the Experts will be held
January 13, 2004
Douglas A. Drossman, MD

Chat with the Experts from Home!
You are invited to participate in "An Evening With the Experts", an online discussion on functional gastrointestinal disorders, held on select evenings, from 8-10 PM EST.
The UNC Center for Functional GI and Motility Disorders is proud to announce the launching of a monthly two-hour Internet educational chat session open to the public. Each session will be on a specific functional GI disorders topic likely to be of interest to many of our website visitors.

He can answer your question for sure, or no one can. On the links, I highly recommend loggin into medscape and supplying a password and user name and then reading the IBS resource center. It is free and they do not sdpam you, they are highly professional site.
All the abstracts and full text articles are in there. Some I have permission to use from the UNC site also.
I highly recommend this, if you have any trouble or questions let me know. They have an extensive and I mean extensive IBS resource center and search option.
The below was a collection of medline abstracts from medscape on serotonin and IBS. So you know, there are full text versions for a lot of it, but they are all over the place and some are in say Gastroenterology journals and some you have to pay for.
Like I said if I can help some more on anything let me know.
Also thanks for the comments, much appreciated. Heather does an excellent job on the bb and all the work she puts into helping others with IBS. She is an angel. Also so is Will.
