My projected eating plan

Because I have symptoms almost every day now after once being stable (usually summers) I have decided to try a drastic sort of cleansing 2 week plan. I also am addicted to sugar and I am chubby. So starting in about 9 days I will be cutting out sugars (will use stevia only) soy milk/ice cream/carageenan, wheat, yeast and chocolate. I will eat fruits and veggies, meats, nuts, oatmeal, rice and non wheat grains. I might eat low sugar rice cereal too. I never did the break the cycle diet because I like to cook so much and I was worried about dinners, but this time hubby is into the diet too. He wants to cut out sweets and he likes rice so our meals will be meat, veggies and rice or potatoes.
Now I will get on my soap box about IBS problems- read if you desire. First of all, I truly believe IBS is not curable and cannot be completely eradicated from diet alone. When I have to pee and don't, I get bloated, and so no matter what I eat I have to deal with other issues like that. Stress will always be a factor in IBS. So just because someone gets some symptoms one day does not mean, in my opinion, that he/she ate something that is unsafe for them.
On the other hand (and this is very important) if you are having symptoms, if you are posting here for help, if you are not completely stable in general, then you might be ingesting something that is bothering you. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO SAY YOU TOLERATE THIS OR THAT FOOD IF YOU ARE PRESENTLY EXPERIENCING SYMPTOMS! If you read Heather's list of triggers and think dairy for instance does not bother you, but you are complaining about bloat or occassional D, then how do you know dairy is not a trigger for you? That is why I am choosing to test myself off of carageenan, MSG, HFCS and yeast etc. Symptoms can be ongoing and waiting inside to react and therefore not show up after you eat something. Furthermore, IBS patients do not have the luxury of being able to read their guts like normal people because our guts are crabby and don't communicate correctly. My husband knows exactly what bothers him and can say pears made him gassy today because everyday his gut functions a-ok and then one food can be totally recognizable. It does not work that way for us. So please stop claiming trigger foods are fine with you unless you have had zero symptoms for some time. Do yourself a favor and try out perfectly following Heather's plan. And if it doesn't work right away keep trying. But also keep in mind that you will never be 100% cured. That is my belief after half a life of terrible IBS.

--------------------
IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
