I am having further diagnostic tests, too, with my GI doctor, and he has tested me for coeliac diease (like you, I am C) mostly because I am slightly underweight. Like you, I thought that i had a wheat allergy and avoided it for five years. Recently, i reintroduced it (white flour only) with no worsening of symptoms, so I think that I was possibly intolerant of wholewheat, which is an IBS trigger.
My GI doctor also ran tests for IBD and auto immune dieases. I get the results in a few weeks when I go back, and then he'll decide what to do next. I know what it's like to have to wait for a diagnosis. Some days are OK, others are awful. I have had abdominal pain for years, with dairy intolerance and other food intolerances, complicated by surgical adhesions and, I suspect, endometriosis. And, of course, IBS!
My GP referred my to the GI doctor because I really want an accurate diagnosis. I have tried all kinds of avoidance diets, so i know what you mean about being scared of food. I have had nightmares like that, too.
Since starting Heather's diet in October, with Acacia, I feel quite a lot better, so this has helped me with my fear of food. I am eating a wider variety of food and experimenting a bit, too. I have found that eating SF foods every few hours has really helped.
Keep positive - you are not alone with this.
