I think what they mean is that the burning in your mouth is not a normal reaction to Acacia. The problem is there's no way to know if the burning is just a coincidence or if it's actually caused by the Acacia. Well, unless you try it again, but if it is an allergy that could be a bad idea.

My advice would be to see your GI guy and ask him about this. He may not know what Acacia is specifically but he might be able to tell you generally whether he thinks it's okay for you to try again. If so, give it a whirl; if not, return it and get a refund and try one of the other SFS on the market.

It's good that you're seeing a GI guy. You need to be sure other problems are ruled out before getting an IBS diagnosis. You might want to look through the rest of the Website and see what tests need to be done and conditions need to be ruled out before you're diagnosed. And if you aren't doing so already, following Heather's Eating For IBS guidelines between now and when you see your GI guy won't hurt and it might help calm down your crawling insides.
