Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

Has anyone ever tried Amaranth Flakes? I did some searching on the message boards about Amaranth and got the impression that it was soluble fiber. Some people say it is and some say it isn't. Well, I bought some the other day and had some this morning about 8:30. For lunch (about 1:00) I went out to some restaurant called Beale Street which serves some New Orleans type spicy foods, but not with all their dishes. I asked the waitress if the french onion soup had spice to it and she said she wasn't sure. So I ordered it and when I started eating it, immediately it was making my cough and my eyes water from the spice. I only ate a few spoonfuls and couldn't do it anymore. Well, about 1 hour later I had terrible D-cramps (and I am C!!). It only took about 20 minutes and then I was running to the bathroom with D. Since I am C I can count on one hand how many times I've had D, which is only a couple. Anyways, I think it was the spicy french onion soup, but I'm not ruling out the Amarenth flakes. The box says it has 4 grams of fiber for 3/4 cup.

Any thoughts??
