Well, jeez, if you do think that there's something else wrong, keep looking! If a GP says "IBS" to you and you haven't got the full exam via the Rome II criteria, keep pushing to get all the tests required for a real diagnosis. I did just get the label from my GP without the proper tests but: 1. I had a family history, 2. I was like this all my life, 3. SF/relaxation made me feel *hugely* better. If it doesn't seem like the right diagnosis for you, then get it done right with a gastroenterologist.
However, throwing new supplements at yourself all the time could lead to instability. I suggest getting one or both of Heather's books, reading them thoroughly, and following them strictly for several months. And not just the diet: follow her recommendations for stress and anxiety control as well.
While a missed diagnosis could "fix" you, a missed supplement will not. You really need to give Heather's approach an honest attempt before adding little tweaks on top.
