There are repeatedly common triggers but everyone is different on the whole. Heather's diet suggests avoiding the common triggers and foods which are proven to be hard to digest . After avoiding those foods until stable, a person can then reintroduce foods to see if they can tolerate them. Most foods can be tolerated in small amounts. By avoiding the foods here listed as triggers from the start a person doesn't have to go through so much work. I wracked my brain trying to figure out what caused my problems for years. I documented what I ate but could not discover any patterns. Then I avoided the common triggers and figured things out. I have discovered IF is not a big problem for me but other things are and I know a lot of people who tell me what they ate and how they felt and IF had done the damage (when they don't even know what it is).

"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
