I wasn't clear as to whether you wanted input on Effexor and IBS-C or Effexor's side effects.
I have IBS-D, so I can't vouch for how it works on IBS-C. Regarding side effects, the first few days were the only ones where I experienced any side effects. I was unable to sleep a full 8 hours the first couple of nights and I think I had dry mouth and some slight feelings of dizziness and fatigue. Other than that, I have never had any problems. No sexual side effects, no weight gain, no headaches, drowsiness, upset stomach etc.
I am on 75mg by the way.
I guess I should add, though, that all ADs affect each individual in different ways. So just because I haven't had problems doesn't mean you won't. I'm sure being an AD veteran yourself, you know that. However, I think Effexor is worth a shot. Good luck!
