Hi Abby, I've had the MRI defacography(defacating proctogram) and the anorectal manometry. The AM is really easy. I had a 4 second balloon expulsion time, and I got a 'good' pass on the test. The defacography wasn't as much fun. They stick this blue goop which looks like brylcream<laugh> into your rectum, Then they tell you to try and push it out, then stop, then push, then stop. It is a bit of a literal pain in the butt. Finally they let you run to the bathroom and get rid of it. They found that my anorectal junction decends 3.8cm instead of the 'normal' 2.2cm, but they said it wasn't necessarily pathologic. Also they didn't find any 'celes'. There are three types, recto, cysto, and I forget the last one. One more thing, in the AM, don't forget NOT to flush the balloon down the toilet. For some reason they want it?! -Bob
