blastocystis hominis, anyone?       05/26/06 04:11 PM Edit Reply Quote renee21 Reged: 06/02/05 Posts: 486 Loc: Toronto, Ontario, Canada Just found out from a recent stool sample that I am harbouring a parasite, blastocystis hominis. Apparently this is a controversial one in terms of whether it causes problems or not. It is also supposed to be very tough to get rid of. I don't think this is the "cause" of my IBS, but I am certainly wondering if it's making things worse for me, so I'm keen to get rid of it. My herbalist says b. hominis responds well to bitter herbs like wormwood, which I may try. I have yet to see a GI since I moved to a new city, but I imagine they may want to treat it with Flagyl or some hard antiobiotic. Apparently it can still come back after multiple doses of this. Anyone been diagnosed with this? Any treatment suggestions? -------------------- IBS-C, lots of spasm and trapped gas. Print     Remind Me     Notify Moderator
