Hi - shipping is based on quantity of items, and there's no way in every individual order to distinguish at the time the order is placed between different types of items, the type of packing material needed, and what the final exact shipping cost will be. So the actual cost of shipping two cans of Acacia, for example, is drastically more than the cost of shipping two bags. The shipping costs are set up to break even as often as possible - for the majority of orders the charged and actual costs are nearly identical, for a number of orders (especially those with cans) we're actually undercharging for shipping, for other orders there's an overcharge. It all depends on exactly is what ordered and we've set up the parameters as best and inexpensively as we can. There is simply no way to charge the exact shipping cost for every individual order, every single time. There are too many variations in item weight, size, shape, etc.
Best, Heather
