When you said you were taking 18 grams, I thought you meant you were taking 18 grams of SF, which would be 7.2 teaspoons of Acacia. If you're already taking 3 Tablespoons (9 teaspoons) of Acacia per day, that's 22.5 grams of SF. Okay, you could still go up to 4 Tablespoons of Acacia per day which would be 30 grams of SF.
I go up on my Acacia very slowly, so I'd probably add 1/4 teaspoon per day, do that for 3 days, then another 1/4 teaspoon, and so on. Heather says you can go up faster - 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per day, if I remember correctly. I think before bed sounds good or if you don't want to eat or drink right before bed, then just add a little more to each of the doses you're currently taking so eventually you're taking 1 Tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon at each meal.
