Diarrhea can be caused by losing your gall bladder. Taking Questran can help with that. If you haven't tried this medicine, ask your doctor about it. If your diarrhea is caused by the loss of your gall bladder, Questran should be all you need to feel better. This is the first thing you should try.

I don't know enough to talk about what effect having part of your large intestine removed would mean.

It sounds like you've found these Boards, but haven't looked at the rest of the Website. These Boards are for people who are following the Eating For IBS Diet and the rest of the Website explains that diet fully. If your diarrhea isn't being caused by losing your gall bladder and you do in fact have IBS, I'd definitely say give this approach a try. It worked wonders for my IBS-D. It's a good idea to get a copy of the book "The First Year - IBS" - your library may have it or you can buy it from this Website or from a bookstore. A lot of it is also in the Website: you can start reading it here.
