I know what you mean about the bloating--there are days when one minute I am fine and then the next, I get up and am bulging out of my pants. Wearing clothes (even underwear) can sometimes be such a pain, literally. I personally cannot tolerate the metamucil or citrucel. I take Perdiem in tablet form and have not had any bloating effects from it. Sometimes the ab pain is so bad that I cannot even stand to be touched!
