For me I use the Quaker Quick Oats,because I cook in Microwave. it might be a different texture than what your'e used to,but it's easier for me this way. I use 1/2 cup of oats,and 1 cup of water,in a microwave safe dish,with a cover (loose so it doesn't fly all over the place) for 165 seconds,then I put some applesuace on top for flavor. You can start with 1/3 Oats,and 2/3 water if you want. I can't have eggs or any dairy so this is very helthy and nutritious. Hope you like it. The flavored oatmeal packets are full of salt/sugar....bad. So have Good Day!
