hi everyone...i've made all the changes to my diet according to the Prescription for Nutritional Healing Book and Dr. Weil's suggestions and then I get to Heather's site and realize that I might have been doing all the wrong things... I've had IBS-D since I was 5 and now suffer from IBS-C at 24 and am chronically depressed, which is another thing I need to treat with diet, since I have ruled out prescription pills long ago... I made the switch off caffein, drink once or twice a month, and eat no straight sugar and am vegan, I also made grains, soy and good oils the basis of my diet, yet even though white bread and pasta might make my tummy feel good, the sugar goes straight to my head and i cry myself to sleep sometimes cause i'm in a jam...my period has stopped and i am worried... essentially i'm asking for ways to avoid simple carbs that mess with my blood sugar, like is my favorite brown rice, tofu, steamed veggie miso soup still an option? is amaranth, millet and kasha ok? tempeh? please tell me ways to avoid white carbs!! thanks!! good luck everyone!!
